We are saddened to share the passing of Bob Wesley, an FACDL Life Member, who passed away yesterday after a short illness. Bob served as the Public Defender for the Ninth Judicial Circuit for 24 years, from 2001 until January 2025.
Bob was a dedicated supporter and former Board member of FACDL. He strongly believed in helping his lawyers achieve board certification in criminal trial and criminal appellate practice. His commitment to justice and passion for professional development, especially with young lawyers, will be missed by all who knew him. He was a true powerhouse in our profession.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
Bob was bigger than life, a lawyer whose mere presence commanded respect. Intensely dedicated to the training of young lawyers, Bob set the standard for teaching his lawyers to be zealous advocates. His office routinely produced board certified lawyers as a result of his expectations and training. He also routinely put on great legal seminars and would invite local members of the bar to attend. A great asset to the Central Florida legal community, his influence will be missed.
